In this beginner-friendly class, you’ll learn the timeless skill of darning: a practical method of repairing holes and worn areas in knit or woven fabrics using needle and thread.

Whether you're rescuing a moth-eaten sweater, repairing sock heels, or reinforcing thinning elbows, this class will give you the techniques and confidence to make strong, stylish repairs at home.

What you’ll Learn:

  • How to choose the right thread, yarn, and needles for different fabrics

  • Visible & invisible mending approaches

  • Hands-on practice with your own sampler to take home

Workshop Includes:

  • 3 hour interactive session

  • Live demos of darning methods

  • A practice sampler to work on and take home

All materials provided (optional: bring your own knit item to discuss and practice on)

This class has a ratio of 8 students to 1 instructor. Please let us know if you have any specific learning requirements.

You’ll leave with practical repair skills, a sampler for future reference, and the knowledge to extend the life of your wardrobe—one stitch at a time.

No darning experience needed. Just bring your enthusiasm and a love for well-worn clothes.

  • This course will be held on Saturday 14 March and Saturday 28 March, 2026.

    It will start at 10:00 and finish at 13:00.

  • If, for any reason, you either need to cancel your booking, please let us know by email (info@snowdoniagearrepair.co.uk) at the earliest possible time. 

    If the cancellation is over 7 days before the start date of the course we will provide a full refund.

    If the cancellation is 7 days or less before the start date of the course, you will not receive a refund unless we are able to fill the space.
