Machine sewing IV - design a roll top

By making a roll top, get to know the basics of pattern design and creation.

The Industrial Techniques series starts at the very beginning of machine sewing techniques, and builds your skills to confidently make your own gear (MYOG) by the final class in the series.

We’ll cover

  • The design inspiration process

  • Pattern making basics including materials, and iteration

  • Sizing and measurements

  • Making toiles

We’ll make

  • Paraglider roll top bag

Appropriate for

  • Sewers looking to develop skills

  • Attendees of previous workshops

This class has a maximum 4:1 attendee instructor ratio. Please email us if you have any specific learning requirements or airborne allergies. Some experience necessary, as we won’t have time to cover the basics. If you’re new to sewing but like the look of this class, consider signing up for the earlier classes in the series to prepare.

Meet your instructor

Rosanna

Founder of Snowdonia Gear Repair, Rosanna is a design geek with an expertise in backpacks and bags. She is our resident master of alterations and custom builds, under whose tutelage you will fine tune the details to take your repairs and projects to the next level.

    It will start at 10:00 and finish at 14:00.

  • The fourth in the series, this workshop is designed for those with a solid baseline knowledge of industrial sewing. Attend the first three classes in the series to get ready, or enter with previous experience.

    No preparation or homework necessary beyond a bit of brushing up. You’ll want to be familiar with:

    • using an industrial sewing machine

    • types of seams

    • sewing zips

    • sewing binding

    • types of bag bases

  • If, for any reason, you need to cancel your booking, please let us know by email (info@snowdoniagearrepair.co.uk) at the earliest possible time. 

    If the cancellation is over 7 days before the start date of the course we will provide a full refund.

    If the cancellation is 7 days or less before the start date of the course, you will not receive a refund unless we are able to fill the space.
